As of June 2024, Mike has spent 29 consecutive years at The Mercury newspaper in Durban covering Sharks and Springbok rugby for Independent Media. It is a career that has taken him to every corner of the rugby world including London, Dublin, Rome, Edinburgh, Auckland, Buenos Aries, Sydney, Houston and Paris. "It has been an honour to write this book on how the Boks in 2023 beat the odds to defend their 2019 title. Reliving the journey has been an honour and an emotional roller coaster.
