Just as an athletic coach expects to see significant physical growth from players in ten weeks, the reader of Artist Strength Training can expect impressive results in her creative stamina in just ten weeks as well. Ten chapters address such things as how to generate stamina, overcoming resistance, making distinctive and individualized work, dismantling "the Committee" (that group of inner critics), discovering grace through small acts of making, writing a new version of the traditional artist statement and determining what the reader needs to keep showing up daily to create meaningful work. In addition, each chapter also includes creative exercises and tips to encourage exploration of the exercises from several angles. Finally, for additional inspiration and encouragement, six contributing artists will be seen going through the entire process, too, sharing how each has improved and evolved (including progressive examples of their artwork).
