Recently voices have been heard saying that the Bible is not literally God's word, but rather the word of God in ordinary Human language. Sometimes people say that the Bible is nothing more than words about God.
Izak Spangenberg attempts to formulate a contemporary perspective on the Bible. He shows that the Bible is a book that can greatly assist us in our reflections on God and in our quest for meaning in life. If we use it wisely, it can indeed serve as a guide.
Essentially, however, in the author's opinion, the Bible is not intended as a book of law with which we are to judge other people.
