This set combines Robert Dutton’s book Drawing Dramatic Landscapes with his Unison Colour Moorland Set of 36 Soft Pastels which has been selected in collaboration with Unison.
The Moorland Set of 36 Unison Pastels has been carefully put together by Dutton to include colours that he believes are essential in capturing moorland fells and hills. Unison pastels are made in Northumberland and contain only pure pigments in a cycle of related hues, instead of adding white or black to the colours. The result is an intense, vibrant colour not muddied by the blending of colours. Unison's pastels contain very little binder, making them truly soft and smooth.
His book, The Innovative Artist: Drawing Dramatic Landscapes, examines new ways of using graphite, charcoal, pastel, and mixed media to create dramatic landscape drawings. Dutton uses his expressive, loose drawing and painting style to capture the landscape's power and drama. Robert combines media such as liquid graphite, inks, metallic inks, charcoal, paint and drawing pastels, and also experiments with collage work.
This is a highly instructive guide, with numerous exercises and larger step-by-step projects throughout the book showing how Dutton works. Alongside this, are numerous examples of the author’s finished artworks accompanied by informative captions explaining the methods used to create them, thereby providing both instruction and inspiration.
Robert Dutton is a fine artist and tutor, winning regular fine art awards for his distinctive and expressive style of work in numerous international competitions.
