Surface Preparation & Application:

Surface Preparation:

• Clean Surface: Ensure that the surface to be coated is clean, dry, and free of rust, grease, and loose paint. For steel, use an etch primer; galvanized steel doesn't require priming.
• Bituminous Surfaces: For bituminous surfaces, ensure they are free from dust, chalking, or any loose materials. New bituminous surfaces should weather for 8 weeks before application.

 

Application:

• Stir Well: As the aluminium pigment tends to settle, thoroughly stir Silvakote Silver before use using a flat paddle. Keep stirring the product during application to ensure even dispersion of the pigment.
• Apply Directly: Silvakote Silver can be applied directly onto clean surfaces. However, in certain conditions, a primer may be necessary:
  • Steel: Apply etch primer first.
  • Galvanized Steel: No priming is needed.
  • Bituminous Surfaces: Apply directly, except for "hungry" sheet waterproofing membranes, which may require a coat of Bituprime.
• Coating Process: Apply a minimum of two coats for optimal protection. Allow at least 2 hours between coats for proper curing.
• Brush, Roller, or Spray: Apply the paint using a brush, roller, or spray system, ensuring a smooth, even finish.
• Coverage: Each litre of Silvakote Silver covers approximately:
  • Steel/Galvanized Steel: 14 m² per litre at a 60 µm wet film thickness (resulting in a dry film thickness of 20 µm).
  • Bituminous Surfaces: 6-8 m² per litre.
