This is excellent to make a nice cup of coffee when you have friends over. However, from our experience we suggest you get the size you will use "most often", meaning, the size for the number of people enjoying a cup with you frequently.

2 people - 2 or 4 cup

3 people - 4 or 6 cup

4-8 people - 6 or 9 cup

6-12 people - 9 or 12 cup
