Compatible Brother DR-2305 drum unit is a budget-friendly, third-party imaging drum engineered to replace the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) Brother DR-2305 unit. It holds the toner cartridge in place and transfers the laser image onto the paper.

The DR-2305 generic drum unit works seamlessly alongside standard monochrome toner cartridges (such as the TN-2355) across several popular Brother laser machines:
Compatible with the following printers:

- Multi-Function (3-in-1 / 4-in-1) Printers: Brother DCP-L2520D DCP-L2540DW MFC-L2700D MFC-L2700DW MFC-L2740DW
Phase 1: Physical Installation
- Open the machine: Turn on your printer and open the front access door. Let it sit for a few minutes if it was running hot.
- Pull the unit out: Grab the handle of the old drum unit and pull the entire drum and toner cartridge assembly out of the machine.
- Prep the new drum: Unpack your new DR-2305 drum. Remove any protective plastic covers or tape without touching the main glass/roller surface.
- Click them together: Insert your toner cartridge into the new drum unit until it clicks firmly into place. The green lever will pop up when locked.
- Clean the wire: Slide the small green tab on top of the drum from left to right and back a few times. Return it to its original home position (align the two arrows).
- Load back in: Slide the combined drum and toner assembly back into the printer. Do not close the front cover yet for most models.
