Description

Camco Waterpaper Sanding Sheets is ideal for the manual, wet sanding of painted surfaces between coats, as well as for fixing defects in the paint. The sanding sheet is also well suited for the removal of orange peel structure and spot mark repair. The use of a sanding block is recommended to obtain a smooth, even surface, with a consistent sanding pattern. It also features excellent flexibility and is therefore very easy to manoeuvre.

Camco, a Local Lekker South African brand.

2,000-grit sandpaper sits right at the Ultra-Fine end of the sanding scale, and it's a favourite for precision finishing-exactly the kind of detail work you enjoy in your workshop.

What 2000 Grit Does
  • Removes micro-scratches left by 1500 grit
  • Levels clear coat without cutting deeply
  • Smooths surfaces to a near-polish finish
  • Reduces light orange peel
  • Prepares the surface for 2500-3000 grit or polishing compounds

At this stage, sanding marks are extremely fine - almost a haze rather than visible scratches.

Best Applications for 2000 Grit

1. Automotive Clear Coat Finishing

  • Removing light scratches
  • Smoothing clear coat before polishing
  • Reducing mild orange peel
  • Preparing for buffing compounds

This is the most common use - detailing shops use 2000 grit daily.

2. Headlight Restoration (Final Sanding Stage)

After 800 1000 1500, 2000 grit:

  • Removes remaining haze
  • Leaves the lens ready for polishing
  • Prevents deep scratches that show through clear coat

3. Metal Polishing (Stainless, Aluminium)

2000 grit is used to:

  • Remove ultra-fine scratches
  • Prepare metal for polishing paste
  • Smooth the surface before 2500-3000 grit

Great for stainless steel trim, aluminium parts, and workshop metal finishing.

4. Plastic & Acrylic Finishing

Useful for:

  • Acrylic sheets
  • Plastic trims
  • Polycarbonate
  • Instrument panels

It removes fine scratches without gouging softer plastics.

5. Paint Correction & Touch-Ups

2,000 grit is ideal for:

  • Blending touch-up paint
  • Smoothing small repair spots
  • Preparing for machine polishing

It's gentle enough not to burn through clear coat when used correctly.
