Designed to work in a variety of lighting conditions, this camera offers a flexible ISO 100-32,000 range, which is expandable to ISO 51,200 for working in difficult lighting conditions. Using the full width of the sensor, 6K oversampled UHD 4K 30p video recording is supported, as is Full HD 1080 120p for slow-motion playback. Additionally, up to 1 hour of video recording is available. Capable of processing high-speed bursts and high-resolution 4K video, the DIGIC X image processor also supports up to 15 fps continuous shooting via its silent electronic shutter.

Enhanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II

Featuring 651 high-precision autofocus zones, the advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system provides fast and accurate focusing performance. This phase-detection focusing system offers enhanced subject detection and tracking, with the ability to intelligently recognise people, animals, and vehicles while automatically locking onto these subjects and maintaining sharp focus throughout bursts and video capture.

2.36m-Dot EVF and Vari-Angle Touchscreen LCD

Providing high-resolution eye-level viewing, the R50 is designed with a bright and clear 2.36 million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder for a pleasing viewing experience. Additionally, a large 3.0" 1.62 million-dot vari-angle touchscreen provides an intuitive interface for controlling focus points, navigating menus, and reviewing imagery. The screen's vari-angle design also makes it easier to shoot from high and low angles.

Advanced A+ Assist

Advanced A+ Assist enables improved automatic shooting in challenging scenes such as night scenes and backlit environments. It reduces overexposure and can combine multiple continuous shots to create clearer night images or macro shots with greater depth of field.

Simple and Convenient Vlogging

The R50 supports uncropped UHD 4K recording at up to 30 fps, Full HD high-frame-rate recording up to 120 fps, Dual Pixel CMOS AF tracking, and Movie for Close-up Demo Mode. It also supports continuous recording for up to 1 hour, making it suitable for vlogging and long-form content creation.

Movie for Close-Up Demos Mode

This mode automatically shifts focus between the user and objects held in front of the lens, making it ideal for tutorials, cooking videos, and product demonstrations.

Vertical Movie Mode and Aspect Markers

Vertical Movie Mode allows videos to be recorded for smartphone viewing, while Aspect Markers provide on-screen framing guides for different social media aspect ratios to aid composition during shooting.

Flexible Connectivity

The camera offers USB-C, micro-HDMI, and microphone input ports for wired connections. Wireless options include Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Bluetooth 4.2 for remote control, file transfer, live view shooting, and geotagging via a connected smartphone.

UVC/UAC support allows the camera to be used as a Full HD webcam without additional software, compatible with platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Skype.

Bluetooth pairing via the Canon Camera Connect app enables low-energy remote control and GPS tagging from a smartphone.

Wi-Fi connectivity allows remote live view, file browsing, and wireless transfer of images and videos via the Canon Camera Connect app.

USB-C connectivity enables direct connection to smartphones and computers, with full app functionality supported over cable using compatible devices.
