Model History and Information: The Cat 797F is Caterpillar's largest mechanical-drive mining truck, built to move enormous payloads in large open-pit operations. Part of the long-running 797 family first introduced in the late 1990s, the F-series pairs a massive Cat diesel engine with a mechanical powertrain chosen for its efficiency and serviceability at ultra-class size.
