Description
Like many modern women, Dr Erin Taylor struggles to juggle career and family responsibilities. After she answers a call from an old friend, Erin is catapulted into the drama of decades past. Now, the soughtafter Hillcrest surgeon has to add escaping abduction to her to-do list.
Twenty-three years ago, in 1996, Erin united with two other university students to investigate an assault perpetrated against Rina, a fourth member of their group. 'The Furies', as they styled themselves, had no idea their amateur sleuthing would trigger a time bomb. In 2019, at a reunion lunch, Rina does not arrive.
Within hours, Erin too is missing, fighting for her life. Sparse clues lead an unlikely trio of rescuers to a place of pastoral beauty and unpredictable violence. Here, in the Natal Midlands, darker characters from the past are directing events from the wings. But Erin has secrets of her own. She has been training for this moment most of her life.
