How It Works

Cypermethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide developed to mimic natural pyrethrum extracted from chrysanthemum flowers. It works by attacking the insect's central nervous system upon contact or ingestion.

Once exposed:

• Nerve cells become overstimulated
• Insects become paralysed
• Feeding and grooming stop
• Insects die rapidly

The synthetic formulation remains effective longer than natural pyrethrum, providing extended protection.

Warnings & Safety Precautions

• Harmful if swallowed or inhaled
• Keep out of reach of children and pets
• Wear protective clothing during application
• Avoid contact with skin and eyes
• Do not eat, drink, or smoke while using
• Wash hands and exposed skin thoroughly after use
• Wash protective clothing daily after use
• Avoid spray drift onto rivers, dams, grazing areas, and nearby crops
• Prevent contamination of food, feed, drinking water, and utensils
• Clean equipment after use and dispose of wash water responsibly

Protective Clothing Required

When applying:

• Hat
• Face shield
• Cotton overalls
• Boots

When mixing:

• Respirator
• Rubber gloves

Re-Entry Interval

Do not enter treated areas within 1 day after application unless wearing protective clothing.

Pre-Harvest Waiting Periods

Allow the following days between last application and harvest:

• Macadamias, Rooibos Tea - 30 days
• Citrus, Grapes - 28 days
• Apples, Pears, Table Peaches, Plums, Maize, Sweetcorn - 14 days
• Beans, Peas - 7 days
• Tomatoes, Cruciferae - 4 days
• Canning Peaches - 3 days

Important Notes

Cypermethrin 200EC should only be used:

• On crops free from scale infestations at the time of application
• With a preventative spray programme for red scale and mealybug control in the following season
• With caution in mild climate regions due to possible red mite flare-ups during false codling moth control
