Finis Rei Publicae

For intermediate Latin courses, the text combines a close reading of selections of late Republican prose with a thorough grammar review. Caesar's Civil War forms the core of the reading material; excepts from letters of Cicero, Hirtius' treatment of the period just before the outbreak of war, and some other readings supplement Caesar's narrative. Excellent transitional text using actual documents and readings, with commentary on history and grammar, and exercises. Students are provided ample structured skills. Appropriate for third or fourth semester Latin and Latin Grammar review. Notes keyed to Allen and Greenough. Numerous exercises are compiled in the accompanying workbook.
