• The FOXWELL SD203 is a professional automotive smoke leak detector designed to quickly locate leaks in EVAP, vacuum, intake, exhaust and other vehicle systems.
• It helps mechanics and vehicle owners identify hidden leaks faster, reduce diagnostic time, and avoid unnecessary repair costs.

How to Perform a Leakage Test

• Turn OFF the ignition of the vehicle. Leak test of vehicle systems requires the engine to be OFF.
• Dismantle the air filter and the throttle connections.
• Clean the inner wall of the intake opening to avoid sharp objects, and put the universal intake adapter into the opening.
• Connect the power cord to the 12V vehicle battery.
• Now the power LED should be ON. If not, check the power supply.
• Introduce the smoke nozzle into the system via the adapter cone.
• Press the air control switch, wait for 30 seconds until the system is pressurised, and check the pressure gauge and flow meter reading for leak status.
• Press the smoke control switch. Unplug and plug the smoke nozzle back into the cone adapter when there is obvious smoke coming out of the smoke nozzle.
• The system will be ready for leak check in 2 minutes. Use a bright light torch or working lamp to assist.
• After test, press the smoke control switch again to stop the unit from generating smoke, and press the air control switch to stop generating pressurised air.
• Collect the smoke hose and the power cord with the Velcro straps for storage.

Smoke Oil Selection

• The equipment is compatible with mineral oil based baby oil (e.g. Johnson & Johnson pink bottle). Pure #5 white oil is the best choice if available.

Important Cautions

• When using this FOXWELL SD203 Car Smoke Leak Detector for the first time, fill with 20ml oil. Please be careful not to exceed this range.
• The testing liquid: both liquid paraffin and baby oil are acceptable.
• Fresh oil can be added only when the smoke becomes thin, and each top-up must not exceed 20ml.
• Before adding fresh oil, pour out the remaining oil in the detector and replace the detector oil regularly.
• During leak detection, keep away from smoke-sensitive parts.
• Do not run the detector for more than 8 minutes continuously. It needs interval rest.
• The detector has an intelligent protector. If it exceeds the working limit (e.g. over 75 C), it will automatically turn off the power. In this case, operate it later after cooling.
• The round part of this detector becomes hot. Please be careful to avoid burns.
• If the test pipe needs to be disconnected in the middle, secure the other side with a rubber stopper.
• Do not fill the test oil completely full. Just pour in two thirds of the test oil to avoid oil leakage and splashing.

Warnings

• Operator shall have basic knowledge of vehicle and engine structure. A vehicle service book is required.
• To ensure better test results, there should be no wind in the operating area.
• Do not use the product on smoke-sensitive components. For example, smoke residue might reduce sharpness of headlights if applied to headlight housing.
• Only low density mineral oil based fluid is allowed as smoke oil. Johnson & Johnson baby oil (pink label) is compatible. Use a funnel to avoid spreading oil to other parts of the unit.
• Check oil level before use. If oil level is lower than the middle of the gauge, the unit needs a refill, but do not overfill beyond the gauge.
• The product is only allowed for use while the ignition is OFF. Be sure to use a 12V vehicle battery that is fully charged with voltage not lower than 12V.
• Use a bright light torch or halogen light to help find the leaks. Wear goggles if available.
