Description

Finder MAX Series 12" Hacksaw Frame - Clean, Controlled Cuts Through Metal, Plastic and Wood

Cutting a length of steel rod, conduit or PVC pipe with the wrong tool is slow, messy and frustrating. The Finder MAX Series 12" hacksaw frame gives you a rigid steel tube frame, an aluminium alloy handle and a fitted 12" x 1/2" 24 TPI blade, so you can make straight, controlled cuts by hand without setting up a power tool.

It is the saw most people need for jobs around the house, garage and plot: trimming bolts and threaded rod, cutting curtain rails and aluminium angle, shortening PVC and copper pipe for plumbing repairs, sizing electrical conduit, notching small timber sections and cutting through plastic trunking. Plumbers, electricians, DIYers, farmers and hobbyists will all find a use for it, and a spare blade takes only a moment to fit with the wing nut.

A hand hacksaw also has advantages over an angle grinder for many small jobs. It makes no sparks, little noise and very little dust, it needs no power point or extension lead, and it gives you a neat, square cut that is easy to file smooth afterwards. That makes it a sensible choice inside the house, in a flat or complex where noise matters, or out on the farm far from a plug.

The 12" (300mm) blade length is the standard size sold at hardware stores, so replacement blades are easy to find. Keep a few blades with a finer tooth count for thin-walled tube and sheet, and coarser blades for thicker plastic and timber, and this single frame will cover a wide range of cutting work for years.

Why You'll Love It:

- Steel tube frame - The frame is made from A3 steel pipe, a mild structural steel, giving a stiff frame that holds the blade straight for accurate cuts.

- Aluminium alloy handle - The closed D-shaped handle gives your hand a secure, enclosed grip and keeps your knuckles clear of the work piece.

- Blade fitted and ready - Supplied with a 12" x 1/2" 24 TPI blade already mounted, a common tooth count for general metal, pipe and plastic cutting.

- Wing-nut blade tensioning - Tighten or release the blade by hand with the wing nut, so changing blades needs no extra tools.

- Multi-material cutting - The packaging shows it for metal, plastic and wood, so one saw covers most small cutting tasks around the home and workshop.

- Generous cutting depth - With about 11 cm of clearance between blade and frame, it handles pipes, rods, angle iron and small sections with room to spare.

- Standard blade length - It takes regular 12" (300mm) hacksaw blades, which are widely available, so keeping the saw cutting well is simple and affordable.

- Light and easy to handle - The tubular frame and alloy handle keep the saw light, which reduces fatigue when you have a number of cuts to make or are working overhead.

Care and Maintenance:

- Check that the blade teeth point away from the handle and tension the blade firmly with the wing nut before cutting.

- Let the saw do the work: use long, steady strokes with light pressure on the push stroke and ease off on the return.

- Clamp the work piece securely in a vice or to a bench so it cannot move while you cut.

- Release some blade tension when storing the saw for long periods, and replace blunt or damaged blades promptly.

- Wipe off metal filings and moisture after use and store the saw in a dry place to protect the frame and blade.

- Wear safety glasses and gloves when cutting metal, as recommended on the packaging, and file sharp burrs off cut edges.

A dependable hacksaw is one of those tools you will reach for more often than you expect. Keep the Finder MAX Series 12" hacksaw frame in your toolbox and be ready for the next pipe, rod or bolt that needs cutting.
