Description
Turkmen rug or Turkmen carpet is a type of handmade floor-covering textile traditionally originating in Central Asia.
They are produced by the Turkmen tribes who are the main ethnic group in Turkmenistan and are also found in Afghanistan and Iran.
These rugs are very distinctive dominated with dark reds and repeated blue or black and ivory ‘gul’ print motifs.
The wool is soft and hard-wearing and the pile is cut thin.
