The HKD Adjustable IR Distance Sensor (TCRT5000) is a compact, reliable infrared reflective sensor designed for obstacle avoidance, line tracking, and short-range detection. Using infrared emission and reception, the sensor detects reflected signals to determine the presence of objects or surface contrast (such as black vs. white).

It offers a detection range of 1 mm to 8 mm (effective around 2.5 mm) and includes an onboard potentiometer for sensitivity adjustment, making it highly versatile for robotics and automation projects. Powered by 3.3V to 5V, the sensor outputs a digital signal (HIGH when objects are detected) and features an onboard LM393 comparator chip for stable and accurate response.

Compact and efficient, this sensor is widely used in line-following robots, automatic meter logging, rainfall detection, tank overflow detection, and leakage monitoring.
