Description
The HKD UNO REV3 is an Arduino UNO R3 compatible development board based on the ATmega328P microcontroller and featuring an ATmega16U2 USB interface controller. It is designed for electronics development, programming, prototyping, robotics, automation and educational projects.
Unlike low-cost UNO-compatible boards that commonly use a CH340 USB interface, this board uses the ATmega16U2 USB driver/interface, providing the familiar UNO R3 USB architecture and supporting faster USB transfer rates and additional memory compared with the older ATmega8U2 implementation.
The board operates at 5V and provides 14 digital I/O pins, including 6 PWM-capable outputs, along with 6 analog input pins. This provides a flexible range of connections for sensors, LEDs, motors, displays, switches, modules and other electronic components.
The ATmega328P provides 32KB of Flash memory, 2KB of SRAM and 1KB of EEPROM, with a 16MHz clock speed. Of the available Flash memory, approximately 0.5KB is used by the bootloader.
With support for both digital and analog interfacing, the HKD UNO REV3 is suitable for a wide variety of embedded development and DIY electronics applications.

The HKD UNO REV3 is built around the ATmega328P, a widely used microcontroller for embedded electronics and development projects.
The microcontroller provides:
- 32KB Flash memory
- 2KB SRAM
- 1KB EEPROM
- 16MHz clock speed
- 14 digital I/O pins
- 6 analog inputs
- 6 PWM outputs
The available I/O provides flexibility for connecting external sensors, actuators, displays and other electronic modules.
ATmega16U2 USB InterfaceOne of the key features of this UNO REV3 compatible board is its ATmega16U2 USB interface controller.
The board uses the ATmega16U2 rather than the CH340 USB interface commonly found on lower-cost UNO-compatible boards. The supplied information specifies that the ATmega16U2 provides faster transfer rates and more memory compared with the older ATmega8U2 implementation.
The ATmega16U2-based USB interface is designed to provide convenient communication between the development board and a computer for programming and serial communication.
Digital I/OThe board provides 14 digital I/O pins, giving users multiple connection points for digital devices and peripherals.
Of these 14 digital pins:
- 6 provide PWM output
- Each I/O pin supports up to 40mA DC current
Digital I/O can be used for a wide range of project requirements, including switches, LEDs, sensors, modules and other compatible peripherals.
Analog InputsThe HKD UNO REV3 includes 6 analog input pins for connecting compatible analog sensors and devices.
These inputs allow projects to interface with components that provide variable electrical signals rather than simple digital ON/OFF states.
PWM OutputsSix of the digital I/O pins provide PWM output capability.
PWM can be used in suitable applications for functions such as:
- LED brightness control
- Motor control
- Servo-related applications
- Variable output control
- Other PWM-based electronics projects
The ATmega328P provides three main types of onboard memory:
- Flash Memory: 32KB
- SRAM: 2KB
- EEPROM: 1KB
Approximately 0.5KB of the Flash memory is used by the bootloader, leaving the remaining program memory available for user applications.
Operating and Input VoltageThe microcontroller operates at 5V.
For external input power, the supplied specifications state:
- Recommended input voltage: 7-12V
- Input voltage limits: 6-20V
For reliable operation, the recommended input voltage range should be followed.
Current SpecificationsThe board provides the following current specifications:
- DC current per I/O pin: 40mA
- DC current for 3.3V pin: 50mA
External loads should be operated within the specified current limits.
Development and ProgrammingThe HKD UNO REV3 is intended for use as a programmable development platform. Its ATmega328P microcontroller and USB interface make it suitable for writing, uploading and testing embedded programs.
It can be used for developing projects ranging from simple LED and sensor experiments through to more advanced robotics and automation systems.
The supplied information states that Linux and Mac systems do not require additional drivers, while the required Windows .inf file is included with the Arduino IDE.
