Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) is a tropical evergreen tree in the coffee family (Rubiaceae) from Southeast Asia and is native to Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.

Leaves from the plant have been used as a traditional medicine for centuries, but in recent years it has become a popular psychoactive substance in a number of Western countries.

Traditionally, kratom leaves have been used by workers in Southeast Asia to increase energy, stamina, and limit fatigue. In the US, this herbal product has been used as an alternative agent for muscle pain relief, diarrhea, and as a treatment for opiate addiction and withdrawal.

When ingested, Kratom can result in the reduction of anxiety, the elimination of pain, improved sleep, improved productivity, an increase in motivation and a general sense of well-being.
