Listening & language: Home programme: Level 1

The Listening & Language Home Programme/Luister en Leer Tuisprogram is a children's reading-enrichment programme which actively involves parents, teachers and care-givers - in fact, everyone who takes part in the education of a young child. The series is aligned with the CAPS curriculum and adheres to the pedagogical principles of Foundation Phase education. As such it focuses on the development of perceptual and language skills with activities that are well structured, practical and child-centred. It addresses the most important aspects of language development, including listening skills, vocabulary-building, comprehension skills, communication skills and basic grammar. Listening & Language Home Programme/Luister en Leer Tuisprogram develops the foundation of young learners' language abilities, which as the PIRLS literacy reports demonstrate, crucially must be established by Grade 4. It is an essential resource for parents, caregivers and teachers of Foundation Phase learners. This series is available in English and Afrikaans.
