Most fabric-shade lamps arrive without a bulb. This one has a 12W LED bulb in the box, so you can unpack it, screw the bulb in and switch it on the same evening.

The base is an open oval of natural rubberwood, with a short wooden stem holding the E27 socket. Over it sits an oval cotton-linen drum shade in a light natural colour. The linen softens the light into a warm glow across the bedside table, so it lights the room without glaring off the walls.

The bulb gives three light colours. There is an on/off switch on the cord, so you don't have to reach around the back of the lamp in the dark.

At about 25 cm wide and 30.5 cm tall it suits a nightstand, a hallway console or the guest room. The wood and linen look sits well in Scandi and Japandi rooms.
