Description
This book provides the reader with a broad knowledge on how training units for leadership in extreme situations are established and conducted depending on the political, social and environmental climate of the respective country. As the social, political and environmental climate of the world changes, the armed forces are faced with new challenges classified as extreme situations. The chosen countries to contribute to this book are Brazil, Canada, Chile, Denmark, Finland, Germany, India, Israel, South Africa and Switzerland. This global perspective allows to highlight the differences and similarities in military training regarding leadership in extreme situations. Especially interesting is the focus of each chapter on the individual classification of an extreme situation. While training for leadership in extreme situations in countries like Switzerland or South Africa include environmental factors like extreme heat or cold, other countries like India focus more on territorial andreligious disputes within the country. As seen from the examples above, this book not only provides a broad and thought-provoking insight into the military training methods for leadership in extreme situations by ten different countries, but also allows for a comparative analysis on how each country defines extreme situations and the respective required skills to tackle them by the future leaders of the armed forces.
