My Big Fat Greek Taverna

In a moment of madness, Costa Ayiotis, a former United Nations diplomat, throws caution to the winds, quits the Joburg rat race and semigrates to Hout Bay where he opens a Greek taverna. He buys a run-down pub set in a historic hundred-year-old farmhouse on the beach. He renovates and converts it into his dream restaurant, Lemonia Greek Taverna.

The local barflies and village idiots predict his demise in a notoriously fickle seasonal town. He is determined to prove them wrong. Costa takes us on a hilarious rollercoaster ride as he experiences adventures and misadventures in the idiosyncratic village. The constant stream of customers from all corners of the planet continuously test his patience.

However, the Janus-faced gods and lady luck are on Costa's side. With no previous experience in the food biz, but with plenty chutzpah, Greek grit and hard work, Costa and his merry band succeed despite all odds. The book is dedicated to all those brave souls yearning to escape from it all.
