My First Book of Kruger Birds

Everyone who goes to Kruger National Park knows about "The Big Five", five large mammals everyone wants to see. What if we could bird by five? Five birds in six categories are introduced, each of which should be relatively easy to find in the Park. Birding by Fives is an activity designed to introduce young Kruger explorers to birds in a fun way.

This children's book introduces young readers to birding by presenting them with six categories containing five birds. Instead of being an identification guide, this book presents a challenge for young readers. They seek out and find all 30 birds in the book. Birds were chosen because they are relatively easy to spot within the park, both during drives and in the camps. Everyone who goes to Kruger Park knows about "The Big Five", five large mammals that everyone wants to see. What if we could bird by five? Let's think of some categories, and then illustrate five common birds in each category. The categories are: the big five, the little five, the colourful five, the noisy five, the five undertakers, and the five record holders.
