This collection of 27 travel sketches takes us on a journey around the globe, together with master storyteller Johan Bakkes. We visit favorite
destinations of Bakkes such as the West Coast and the Kalahari, explore Namibia, Angola and Tanzania, visit Mali, the Ivory Coast and
Morocco, and travel together to Italy, Greece and Russia. But ultimately the sketches are about things of the soul when it comes to travel and
exploration, rather than the place and the way to get there. The journey remains the theme, but age makes melancholy and nostalgia stick out.
The title story refers to one of the author's most difficult journeys - to overcome colon cancer. And finally he shows us he's nowhere near
"pushing daisies". Here are the usual delightful, adventurous tales about far and near journeys, full of humour, and never without compassion
for fellow human beings.
