Once an Eagle

Once An Eagle is the story of Sam Damon, an Army lieutenant who is a consummate leader of men-skilled on the battlefield, and a dedicated patriot all too aware of the horrible cost of war. His career-long nemesis, Courtney Massengale, is also a brilliant officer, but Sam's complete opposite - aggressive, ruthless and power-hungry. Tracing the conflict between these two men throughout their careers, which span from World War I to the early days of Vietname, Myrer's novel is a powerful study of the character and values we cherish.
