Description
THE ORRO WAY
Optimised - Reliable - Revolutionary - Original
- Who ORRO is for: Anyone who would rather buy one thing that works properly than replace a cheap one twice. ORRO is for everyday use - chosen carefully, and made to last past the novelty.
- What is different: We name the trade-offs as plainly as the features. If a model is not right for you, we would rather you knew before you bought it than after.
- How that is possible: ORRO sources directly and sells directly. Fewer steps between the factory and your door means we can spend where it shows and keep the price fair.
- What you get: Good materials, sensible design, and something that still feels right a year in. The things you use every day should feel that little bit better.
WHAT THE PRO 13" DOES WELL
- More screen where you need it: The Pro is taller than a standard widescreen monitor - 16:10 rather than 16:9. That extra height means more rows in a spreadsheet, more lines of code, and less scrolling through documents and long web pages.
- 450 nits, the brightest in the range: Brightness is where cheap portable monitors give up. At 450 nits the Pro 13" stays readable in a bright office, a coffee shop or next to a window, which is where portable monitors are actually used.
- 2160 x 1350 across 13 inches: Sharp enough that text stays crisp at working distance, with a pixel density close to a laptop's built-in display.
- 100% sRGB, IPS: Full sRGB coverage means colour is accurate enough for design and photo work, not just spreadsheets. IPS keeps it consistent from the side.
- Full aluminium, 494g: An aluminium body rather than plastic, and the lightest monitor in the ORRO range. Thin and light enough to live in the laptop bag rather than the drawer.
- Built-in stand: The stand folds out of the back, so there is nothing separate to carry, unfold or lose.
- Antiglare, not a mirror: Glossy portable screens photograph better and work worse. The antiglare layer cuts reflections over long sessions.
- One cable, on the right laptop: USB-C carries video and power together on compatible devices. Mini HDMI is there for consoles and older machines. Both cables are in the box, along with a power cable for when your device cannot supply enough on its own.
- 10W maximum draw: The lowest power consumption of any ORRO monitor, which is what makes single-cable operation realistic on more laptops.
- Controls you can reach: A side-mounted power button and navigation wheel handle brightness, volume, input and menu. Dual speakers and a 3.5mm jack are built in.
WHAT IT DOES NOT DO
- This is a work screen, not a gaming monitor. 60Hz and 11ms are fine for documents, video and casual play, not for competitive gaming.
- There is no battery and no touch screen. The Pro 13" runs off your device over USB-C where supported, or off a separate power source using the second cable. On Mini HDMI it always needs separate power, and some laptops cannot supply enough over USB-C at full brightness. We would rather say that now than have you discover it.
HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT ORRO PORTABLE MONITOR
- Eco: For users who need a reliable second screen for basic productivity, study and everyday portable use.
- Home: For users who want a stronger balance of display quality, usability and daily performance.
- Pro: For users who need higher resolution, improved brightness, broader connectivity and a more refined portable display experience.
SETTING IT UP
- One cable: On a compatible laptop, a single USB-C cable carries video and power. Start with brightness low, raise it gradually, and note where the display cuts out - that is your device's power limit. Working just below it is more stable than sitting on it.
- Two cables: If the screen flickers, clicks or goes blank, your device cannot supply enough power. Connect the second cable to a plug or power bank alongside the data cable and it will be stable.
- Mini HDMI: Carries video and audio but no power, so it always needs the second cable connected to a power source.
- A note for Mac users: macOS scales built-in MacBook displays differently to external ones, so text and icons may look slightly smaller on the Pro at first. This is macOS, not the monitor. Go to System Settings > Displays, turn on "Show all resolutions", and choose a scaled option until everything sits at a comfortable size.
COMPATIBILITY
- USB-C devices: Works with devices whose USB-C port supports display output. This is what catches people out - a USB-C port that only charges will not send video, and that is a limitation of the device, not the monitor.
- Laptops: Selected macOS and Windows laptops with Thunderbolt or USB-C display output. Thunderbolt devices are fully compatible.
- Phones and tablets: Selected iOS devices running iOS 16 or later, and Android devices with USB-C display output.
- Consoles: Selected PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo consoles via the Mini HDMI input.
- Device capability: Your device also needs to be powerful enough to drive a second display. Underpowered machines will feel slow with the monitor attached.
