Poly MDA200 Headset Communications Hub The Poly MDA200 Headset Communications Hub is an audio switcher that allows a compatible USB headset to be shared between a computer and a traditional desk phone. Separate computer and telephone controls make it easy to select the required audio source, helping users manage softphone and desk-phone communications from one headset. One Headset for Computer and Desk Phone The MDA200 is designed for workplaces transitioning from conventional desk phones to computer-based unified communications. Instead of maintaining separate headsets for each device, users can connect one supported corded USB headset or wireless-headset USB adapter and switch it between their computer and desk phone. Simple Source Switching Dedicated computer and desk-phone talk buttons provide direct control over the active audio channel. If a call arrives on the other device, the user can place the current audio channel on hold and switch to the incoming call. The MDA200 switches between the two connected sources; it does not combine the computer and desk-phone calls into a conference. Dedicated Computer and Desk-Phone Controls Computer talk button selects the connected PC or softphone audio channel. Desk-phone talk button selects the telephone audio channel. Illuminated buttons indicate incoming, active and held calls. Configuration switch helps match the hub to different telephone wiring arrangements. Separate listening and speaking volume controls support desk-phone audio adjustment. Supports Corded and Wireless USB Headsets The headset port accepts selected Plantronics corded USB headsets and supported USB wireless adapters. This allows users to choose an appropriate corded, DECT or Bluetooth headset configuration while retaining access to both computer and telephone audio. Traditional Plantronics H-Series Quick Disconnect headsets may require a separately available compatible DA Series USB adapter before they can be connected to the MDA200. Desk-Phone Connection Options The supplied telephone interface cable connects the MDA200 to a compatible desk phone. Three general desk-phone operating configurations are supported: Connection Method Operation Standard Telephone Connection Connects through the phone’s handset interface; the handset must normally be lifted and replaced manually. Electronic Hook Switch A separately available phone-specific EHS cable enables remote answer and end-call control on compatible telephones. HL10 Handset Lifter The optional HL10 mechanically lifts the handset for remote call control and requires the separately available MDA200 power supply. Softphone Call Control With a supported softphone and compatible Plantronics software, users can answer or end computer calls through supported headset controls. Without the required integration, calls can still be managed using the softphone interface and the MDA200 computer talk button. Wideband and Stereo Audio Support The MDA200 supports wideband and stereo computer audio when used with an appropriate headset and compatible application. Actual desk-phone audio quality remains dependent on the connected telephone, telephone network and headset. Key Features: Shares one compatible USB headset between a computer and desk phone. Allows users to place one audio channel on hold and switch to the other. Uses illuminated controls to indicate incoming, active and held calls. Connection Overview: Connection Purpose Computer USB Cable Connects the MDA200 to a computer and supplies power during standard operation. USB Headset Port Accepts a compatible corded USB headset or supported wireless-headset USB adapter. Telephone Interface Port Connects the hub to a compatible desk phone using the supplied telephone interface cable. EHS or Lifter Port Connects an optional phone-specific EHS cable or compatible HL10 handset lifter. Power Port Accepts the optional external power supply required for an HL10 installation. Important Compatibility Information A headset is not supplied with the MDA200. Not every USB audio headset or wireless adapter is supported; confirm the exact headset model before ordering. A phone-specific EHS cable is required for electronic remote answering on compatible desk phones. An HL10 lifter and external power supply are required when electronic hook-switch operation is unavailable and remote answering is needed. Computer call control depends on the softphone and compatible Plantronics software. The MDA200 is a legacy device, so compatibility with current operating systems and communications platforms should be confirmed.
