Reckoning With Our African Ancestors

If you are new to the United States, or have lived here your entire life, you may not be aware of the contributions African Americans have made and continue to make to society. In "Reckoning with Our African Ancestors: Reclamation and Atonement by Their Descendants," you will find a brief history lesson about who these people were at one time and who they are today. Author Michele L. Albert tells how her people built the United States and are responsible for the concept of democracy and breakthroughs in agriculture, science, medicine, and human rights. Albert contends that her ancestors had their ethereal flame, humanity, culture and civilization stripped away and replaced with a foreign paradigm. "Reckoning with Our African Ancestors" details Albert's strong introspective walk, as she seeks spiritual answers, enlightenment, and solutions to the baffling situation African people find themselves in not only in the United States but all around the world. It is imperative that people new to this country know about the history, treatment, and struggles of the African Americans. The scenarios described by Albert, no matter how long ago they occurred, still have a profound effect on society. "Reckoning with Our African Ancestors" provides a chance to discuss African Americans' background and-agree or disagree-encourage open communication.
