Description
Inspired by the depth of squid ink and the richness of Australian licorice, Proline in Black is a versatile, intense dye crafted for large-scale and professional applications. Our ProLine formula combines direct, acid, and disperse dyes to deliver deep, uniform colour-even on mixed-fabric blends and industrial materials.
Product Overview
Elevate your fabric and production projects with Rit ProLine Black, an industrial-strength, professional-grade dye powder explicitly engineered for large-scale, high-volume applications. Whether you are a custom apparel maker, costumier, or managing commercial textile production, this heavy-duty 1 lb (454g) pouch provides the ultimate blank slate or restoration tool.
While standard dye lines require separate formulas for natural and synthetic fibers, Rit ProLine breaks the rules. It features an advanced, dual-action blend that achieves uniform, rich coverage across multiple fabric types simultaneously, making it the premier choice for busy workshops, wardrobe departments, and creative studios.
Key Benefits & Features
- Advanced Multi-Fibre Formulation: Combines direct, acid, and disperse dyes in a single powder, allowing you to dye natural textiles, synthetics, and complex blended fabrics at scale in one go.
- Massive Yield & Coverage: One single 1 lb (454g) package contains enough concentrated dye to process up to 7.3 kg (16 pounds) of dry fabric, or approximately 44 metres (48 yards) of material.
- Commercial-Grade Depth: Specially balanced to provide an exceptionally rich, jet-black tone that prevents the unwanted purple, blue, or green undertones common with standard dyes.
- Industrial Versatility: Perfect for uniforms, theatrical costuming, cosplay, interior staging décor, industrial textiles, 3D-printed filaments, and even porous craft materials like wood and concrete.
- Safe & Reliable: Proudly manufactured with over a century of quality control experience. The powdered formula is non-toxic and entirely safe for commercial sewer and septic systems.
Material & Fibre Compatibility Guide
Rit ProLine works beautifully across an expansive array of everyday, commercial, and industrial materials:
- Natural Fibres: Cotton, linen, silk, wool, ramie, and hemp.
- Synthetics & Plastics: Nylon, polyester, acrylic, acetate, spandex, and certain 3D printing plastics.
- Specialty Substrates: Suede, leather, paper, wicker, cork, wood, and concrete.
- Note: Not recommended for fabrics with structural rubber backings, or textiles explicitly labelled as "Cold Water Wash Only" or "Steam Clean Only".
How to Use for Best Results
Preparing the Solution:
- Weigh your dry materials to determine the required dye quantity. For standard depth, use 2 full scoops of ProLine powder per pound (454g) of fabric. For an ultra-deep, intense jet black, double the dosage.
- Completely dissolve the powder in 2 cups of very hot water before introducing it to your main dye bath.
Commercial Dye Methods (Washing Machine or Bulk Vat):
- Pre-wash your garments or textiles to ensure all fabric finishes, manufacturing sizing, or surface stains are removed. Leave the items damp.
- Fill your dye vessel or machine with enough water for the fabric to move completely freely. Set to the highest temperature safe for the fabric type (sustained high heat is crucial for the synthetic dye components to lock in).
- Pour in the pre-dissolved black dye solution and stir thoroughly.
- Submerge the damp items and agitate continuously for at least 30 to 60 minutes to guarantee an even, streak-free distribution.
- Rinse the material thoroughly in warm water, gradually transitioning to cool water until the water runs completely clear. Wash with a mild laundry detergent to set.
