The SSK023K1 introduces a GMT function to the Seiko 5 Sports Field series, making it particularly suited to travellers and anyone who needs to keep track of an additional time zone. The prominent five-sided GMT hand provides a clear indication of the second time zone against the black dial, while the 24-hour scale allows the wearer to read the additional time at a glance.

At the heart of the watch is Seiko's Caliber 4R34 automatic mechanical movement. The movement is powered by the motion of the wearer's wrist and also supports manual winding. It provides an approximate 41-hour power reserve and contains 24 jewels. The movement includes a 24-hour GMT hand for dual-time display, a stop-second function for more precise time setting and a date display.

The watch features a 39.4mm stainless-steel case with a thickness of 13.6mm and a lug-to-lug measurement of 47.9mm. Its relatively compact case size provides a versatile fit while retaining the robust styling associated with the Seiko 5 Sports collection.

The black dial is protected by Seiko's curved Hardlex crystal, giving the watch a distinctive raised profile while providing protection for everyday wear. LumiBrite is applied to the hands and indexes to improve visibility in darker conditions.

The watch is fitted with a stainless-steel multi-link bracelet and a three-fold clasp with secure lock. The 20mm lug width provides a balanced connection between the case and bracelet.
