The SOBO WP-308H Slim Hang-On Aquarium Filter provides efficient filtration and water circulation without taking up valuable space inside your aquarium.

The hang-on-back design allows the filter to sit on the outside rear of the tank while drawing aquarium water through the intake and returning filtered water to the aquarium.

With a flow rate of up to 580 L/H and a 5.8W motor, it provides continuous circulation while helping remove suspended debris and impurities from the water.

The included shrimp-safe sponge helps protect shrimp and other small aquatic life by covering the intake and preventing them from being drawn into the filter.

The filter supports mechanical, biological and chemical filtration, depending on the filtration media being used.

First-Time Setup & Use

IMPORTANT: Never run the filter dry. The filter must be filled with aquarium water before switching it on.

1. Position the Filter

Hang the filter securely over the back of the aquarium.

Make sure the filter is sitting level and that the outlet can safely return water into the aquarium.

2. Install the Intake

Attach the intake pipe and shrimp-safe sponge securely.

Make sure the sponge is fully fitted over the intake and cannot come loose during operation.

3. Add Filter Media

Install the supplied filter media according to the filter's internal compartments.

If additional media is used, ensure that water can still flow freely through the filter.

4. Prime the Filter

Before switching the power on, fill the filter body with aquarium water.

This allows the pump to start correctly and helps prevent the motor from running dry.

5. Switch On

Connect the filter to the appropriate power supply and switch it on.

It may initially make some noise while air is expelled from the filter and intake system.

Allow a few minutes for the filter to fill and establish a steady flow.

6. Adjust the Flow

Use the flow adjustment control to set the desired water movement.

For shrimp, fry and fish that prefer gentle circulation, start with a lower flow setting.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps maintain good filtration performance and extends the life of the filter.

Filter Sponge

• Check the intake sponge regularly for debris and plant matter.
• When the sponge becomes clogged, remove it and gently rinse it.
• Rinse aquarium filter sponges in removed aquarium water rather than untreated tap water to help preserve beneficial bacteria.
• Refit the sponge securely before restarting the filter.

Filter Media

Clean filter media when necessary according to how quickly it becomes dirty.

Do not replace or thoroughly clean all biological filter media at the same time, as this can remove a large amount of beneficial bacteria from the aquarium.

If possible, clean biological media gently in removed aquarium water.

Pump & Impeller

Periodically inspect the pump and impeller for:

• Hair
• Plant debris
• Dirt
• Algae
• Other obstructions

Disconnect the filter from the power supply before opening or cleaning the pump.

Remove accumulated debris carefully and ensure the impeller can rotate freely.
