The Day You Begin

There will be times when you walk into a room

and no one there is quite like you . . .

It might be how you look or the way you talk, where you're from; maybe it's what you eat or what your hair is like.

Being an outsider is scary at first, but Jacqueline Woodson's beautiful tale is a timely reminder that we all have different stories to tell, and the more we share them, the more others will happily join.

This is the day you begin.
