Glenlivet Scotch Whisky is made using barley sourced from Crisp Maltings, Portgordon(a village in Moray, Scotland). After the barley has been malted and mashed, it is fermented in wooden washbacks for approximately two days. The wooden washbacks used by Glenlivet are more difficult and expensive to maintain as compared to the stainless steel washbacks used by most Scottish distilleries but impart a distinctive, floral quality to the whisky. This whisky is put through a combination of hand-selected American oak and ex-sherry casks, which impart the distinctive flavour of dried fruits and a bold richness, vibrant intensity and long finish.

The Glenlivet 21 Year Old Whisky's taste notes offer a full-bodied, warming, dried fruits, spice flavour with cinnamon, ginger, and syrup mouth feel on the palate. It seems fruity, dry, and sherry on the nose; coloured enticingly of rich amber, with shimmering shades of copper, the finish of this prestigious expression is long and warm with well-defined, lasting toasted hazelnuts.
