When Jo, Bessie and Frannie move to their new house in the country, they discover an Enchanted Wood near their home where magic is everywhere and trees whisper secrets to one another. In the middle of the wood grows the most magical tree in the world – The Faraway Tree.

In "The Enchanted Wood", the children waste no time exploring the enormous tree and while doing so, soon meet some strange creatures who live amongst the branches. Together with their new friends, Moonface, Saucepan Man and Silky, the children set off on some fantastic adventures in the lands that come and go at the top of the tree.
"The Magic Faraway Tree" is the second book in the trilogy, where we return to the Enchanted Wood with Joe, Beth, Frannie and their cousin Rick set out on some all-new adventures in the lands at the top of the Faraway Tree. Once again they are joined by their friends Moon-Face, Saucepan Man and Silky.

The third and final book in The Magic Faraway Tree series sees Curious Connie come to stay with Jo, Bessie and Frannie. The three children are keen to introduce Connie to "The Folk of the Faraway Tree" – but Connie doesn't believe in magic, or fairy-folk, and pours scorn on everything she sees.
