I don't know why he's here, reminding me of a past I worked my ass off to bury. It's not a place I like to visit,but it's also where he took all my firsts. First kiss. First man to hold my hand. First "I love you". He's the man who took my innocence and made me a woman.
I love him, I never stopped because love is an eternal flame, it's not something that dies because you can't stand a person anymore, or simply because they hurt you enough for you to want nothing to do with them.
Cutting ties with someone who was once your world doesn't rip that love out of your heart. It stays with you forever because love is not a feeling, it's your soul letting you know that you're alive, and not just existing.
I had my person, our love was something to write home about. My life was his to direct, and it went anywhere he led, with no complaints from me. He would have killed anyone who touched a strand of hair on my head. I was 21 years old when we met, and the only thing I knew about love was that it had to do with people who enjoyed each other's company.
Everything I know now about love is all thanks to him. He gave me the best 5 years of my life. My parents were against everything he represented.
I was a daddy's girl and my mother's investment. Unlike my older sister, my vision was to inherit our parent's legacy while her goals centred on getting married and bearing children for her husband. She wanted wealth that came with no responsibilities, while I dreamt of a big office with a huge glass window overlooking the city.
