The Companion to Music and Human Rights is a collection of case studies that spans a wide range of concerns about music and human rights. It is comprised of 24 chapters interspersed between 10 'sketches' that focus on individual's intimate experiences with, or use of music and human rights. Threats to the peaceful pursuit of individual and collective goals that have caused the fragmentation of nations has impelled practitioners in the fields of music and human rights to explore, together, ways they might amplify the impact of their values and professional objectives. The partnership emerged from the mutual conviction that music dignifies human experience by giving voice to thoughts and feelings.
