The House of Niccolo series is set in the fifteenth century banking world, charting its progress through the unorthodox activities of Burgundian merchant adventurer Nicholas de Fleury. Behind the broad, unsentimental vision of multi-lingual, multi-racial Europe in Renaissance times, there run intimate portraits of adventurers and painters, negotiators and mercenaries, princes and intelligent women. The author invites her readers to argue about all those quick-witted, passionate, villainous people among whom the elusive Nicholas moves, and to speculate on evidence offered as carefully as the clues in a detective story.
