Whole Farm Management: From Start-Up to Sustainability

For more than 10 years, the Small Farms Program at Oregon State University has taught a workshop series for beginning farmers and ranchers titled Growing Farms: Successful Whole Farm Management. This book grew out of that series. All of the contributors are experienced or expert in organic/sustainable farming or family business management. The book guides the reader through a sequence of steps, from visualising what their farm will be once fully realised and conducting marketing research to financial planning and farm management strategies to achieve long-term success and satisfaction. Readers learn principles and practices as they proceed, with case studies of actual farms to demonstrate real-world challenges and solutions.
