Description

EZVIZ T4C Smart Smoke Sensor - Early Warning, Right on Your Phone, Wherever You Are.

A smoke detector that just beeps in an empty house isn't much help if nobody's home to hear it. The EZVIZ T4C is a wireless smart smoke sensor that does more: it detects smoke in your home or business AND sends an instant push notification to your phone via the EZVIZ App, wherever you happen to be. At work, on holiday, at the shops, asleep upstairs - if there's smoke, you know about it within seconds, not when you eventually walk back into the house and find a much bigger problem.

Built around dual-photoelectric smoke sensing technology with 360-degree detection coverage, the T4C is certified to the European EN 14604:2005/AC:2008 smoke alarm standard - the same standard residential smoke detectors in Europe must meet. The clean white circular housing is designed to blend into any ceiling or wall without dominating the room aesthetic, and the battery-powered design means no wires, no plugs, no electrician needed for installation.

Why You'll Love It:

  • Instant Phone Alerts via EZVIZ App - The killer feature vs old-fashioned beep-only smoke alarms. When the T4C detects smoke, a push notification fires off to your phone immediately. Out at the shops? Away on holiday? Asleep at the back of the house? You know what's happening AS it happens, not when you eventually find out.
  • Dual-Photoelectric Smoke Sensing - Uses dual-photoelectric detection technology - more accurate than basic single-sensor designs, and better at distinguishing real smoke from steam, dust or cooking fumes. Fewer false alarms, faster detection of real fires.
  • 360-Degree Detection Coverage - Smoke can enter the sensor from any direction. Mount it on a ceiling and it covers the area around it from every angle.
  • EN 14604:2005/AC:2008 Certified - Manufactured and certified to the European smoke alarm standard, the same standard residential smoke detectors must meet in Europe. The supplier's compliance with EN 14604 signals that the sensor's response time, sensitivity and reliability meet international safety norms.
  • Clean, Discreet Design - White circular housing that blends into modern ceilings without looking like a chunky industrial alarm. Sized to be functional but not the focal point of the room.
  • Smart Integration with EZVIZ Cameras - If you've got EZVIZ cameras in the house and they're linked through the EZVIZ App, smoke detection can trigger automated actions across your smart-home setup.
  • Long-Lasting Battery - Energy-saving design delivers a long operational lifespan from the included battery. A low-battery warning gives you plenty of notice when it's eventually time to swap.
  • Easy Peace-of-Mind Installation - Mount on the ceiling using the included screw kit. No wiring, no electrician, no expensive installation. Battery-powered means you can place the sensor wherever it's actually needed, not just where the wiring is convenient.

Where to Install It:

The T4C protects you best when it's placed where smoke from a real fire would actually reach the sensor early. Recommended locations:

  • Bedrooms and hallways outside bedrooms - most critical for overnight protection
  • Living rooms and lounges where fireplaces, candles or electronics are in use
  • Living spaces above garages with petrol-powered tools or vehicles
  • Office and small business work areas
  • Storage rooms with valuable inventory

Where NOT to Install (per Supplier Guidance):

The T4C is designed to detect actual smoke, so installing it in places where steam, fumes or normal cooking byproducts would trigger it leads to false alarms and frustration:

  • Kitchens - Cooking steam and smoke causes constant false alarms (use a kitchen-specific heat alarm instead)
  • Bathrooms - Steam from hot showers triggers false alarms
  • Near Water Heaters - High humidity from geysers and water heaters
  • Near Stoves, Heaters, Fans, Air Conditioners - Convective airflow disrupts smoke reaching the sensor; heat from stoves/heaters can damage the sensor
  • Dusty / Insect-Prone Areas - Dust and insects clog the sensor over time
  • Within 1.5 metres of strong light fittings - Light fixtures heat the surrounding air, affecting sensor performance
  • Dead-Air Corners - Top of stairwell spires, sharp room corners and other places where air doesn't actively circulate
  • Outdoors / Exposed Spaces - Not weatherproof

If the room or area is longer than 10 metres, you'll need MULTIPLE T4C sensors to ensure smoke reaches at least one of them quickly. One sensor per ~10m of ceiling length is a sensible rule of thumb for larger spaces.

Where It Earns Its Keep:

  • Residential Homes - Bedrooms, hallways, lounges, living rooms (away from kitchen and bathroom)
  • Apartments & Townhouses - Especially important in multi-storey or shared-wall dwellings
  • Granny Flats & Cottages - Where elderly relatives live and may need early warning beyond what they can hear
  • Holiday Homes - Get alerted while you're away if there's a problem
  • Small Businesses - Offices, salons, retail stockrooms, electronics workshops
  • Childcare Facilities - Where multiple young people need early warning protection
  • Domestic Help Quarters - Provide protection in staff accommodation areas

Important Notes - Please Read Before Buying:

  • This is a SMOKE detector - designed to detect SMOKE from combustion fires. It does NOT detect: - Carbon monoxide (use a separate CO detector for that) - Heat alone (use a heat detector for kitchens) - Gas leaks (use a gas detector for natural gas / LP gas) - Water leaks (use a water leak sensor) For full home safety, smoke + heat + carbon monoxide + gas + water detection are all separate devices.
  • EZVIZ App account required (free, iOS and Android). Create a free EZVIZ account and follow the in-app setup instructions to register and configure the sensor.
  • Multiple sensors recommended for larger properties. One per ~10m of ceiling length, one per bedroom corridor, one per major living area - basic best practice for residential smoke detection.
  • Smoke detectors should be tested periodically (most have a built-in test button) and replaced according to manufacturer guidelines. Most smoke detectors have a 10-year service life - even properly maintained, the sensing element degrades over time.
  • This is a smart smoke sensor - it can alert you via the app, but in the event of a fire, immediately exit the building and contact emergency services (10177 for the South African Fire Service in most municipalities). The app alert is meant as additional notification, not a substitute for evacuation and emergency response.

Care and Maintenance:

  • Press the TEST button on the sensor periodically (monthly is a good rhythm) to confirm the sensor is working properly. The audible test tone should sound and the EZVIZ App should register a test alert.
  • Gently dust the sensor's intake grilles every few months - dust buildup can degrade sensitivity over time. Use a soft brush or low-power vacuum cleaner attachment.
  • Replace the battery when the low-battery warning fires - don't ignore it. A smoke sensor with a flat battery is useless.
  • Replace the sensor entirely after the manufacturer's stated service life (typically 10 years for residential smoke detectors). Even with a fresh battery, sensing elements degrade over time and become less reliable.
  • Keep the sensor away from areas where dust, steam, heat or chemicals would accumulate. Even outside the "do not install" zones, environmental contamination shortens the working life.

Whether you're upgrading from old beep-only smoke alarms, kitting out a new home build, securing a granny flat where an elderly relative lives, watching over a holiday home from afar, or just adding smart smoke detection to your existing EZVIZ smart home setup - the EZVIZ T4C Smart Smoke Sensor is the modern, app-connected choice.
