Important Note - 1D vs 2D:

This is a 1D BARCODE scanner - it reads traditional linear barcodes (the ones with vertical lines you see on grocery products, books and most retail items). It does NOT read 2D codes - that means it will NOT scan QR codes, DataMatrix codes, PDF417 or Aztec codes. If you need to scan QR codes, you'll need a 2D barcode scanner instead.

If you're not sure: products at the supermarket, books, most retail items, shipping labels and warehouse pallets all use 1D barcodes - this scanner handles them. Mobile boarding passes, vaccination certificates, payment QR codes and modern courier waybills often use 2D codes - those need a different scanner.
