Description

Rit ProLine Color Remover is an essential preparation product for textile artists, dyers, costumiers, and commercial garment operations. Formulated to safely lift or lighten existing colour from fabrics, it strips back previous dyes to an off-white or cream base, allowing you to re-dye items to vibrant, true-to-tone shades without interfering tones.

Unlike harsh household bleach, this non-chlorine, reductive formula lifts colour without weakening or deteriorating the structural integrity of natural or synthetic fibres. It is also ideal for whitening aged textiles and removing accidental dye transfer stains from white loads washed by mistake.

Packaged in a high-yield, re-closable 1 lb pouch with a scoop, this professional-grade powder gives you precise control over large-scale garment prep, studio production, and restoration work.

Product Highlights

  • Gentle & Chlorine-Free: Strips existing dye efficiently without degrading fabric fibres like traditional chlorine bleach.
  • True-to-Tone Base: Creates a clean, off-white canvas essential for accurate colour matching when re-dyeing garments.
  • Stain & Bleed Removal: Highly effective for removing accidental dye transfers, fruit juice, tea, ketchup, and rust stains from whites.
  • Multi-Fabric Utility: Safe for use on cotton, linen, silk, wool, rayon & ramie.
  • Bulk Format: Convenient 1 lb (454g) re-closable pouch suited for high-volume studio use or repeated batch processing.

How to Apply for the Best Result

(Note: For maximum colour removal, use the stovetop method in a well-ventilated space).

  1. Preparation: Pre-wash the item in warm, soapy water to remove any sizing or oil finishes. Keep the item wet.
  2. Heat the Water: Fill a stainless steel vessel with sufficient water for the fabric to move around freely. Heat the bath to just below boiling (around 93 C / 200 F).
  3. Add Color Remover: Add the recommended amount of Color Remover powder into the hot bath and mix thoroughly until completely dissolved.
  4. Process: Submerge the wet garment into the simmering bath. Keep the water at a low simmer and stir continuously for 10 to 20 minutes (or until the desired off-white base is reached).
  5. Rinse & Wash: Carefully remove the fabric and rinse it thoroughly in warm water, gradually cooling down the water until it runs clear. Wash in warm water with mild detergent before proceeding to re-dye.

(Please note: Color Remover cannot strip synthetic prints/patterns or remove indigo dye from denim).
