Love My Hair - Cassia powder - 100 grams

Love My Hair cassia is made from the carefully prepared dried leaves of the Cassia obovata plant. The powder is a fantastic hair conditioning treatment, giving strength and shine to all hair types. It contains a natural compound called chrysophanol which can act as a very mild dye. On some hair types it can give grey hair and naturally blond hair a golden sheen. Cassia helps with hair growth and strengthens hair thus helping to prevent split ends and breakage. It helps to give curls body, bounce and definition.

Cassia can be used a gentle exfoliating wash for the face and body. It contains anti-inflammatory properties and anti-oxidants.

Cassia is best used on its own just mixed with water. Mix enough warm water into the powder to make a smooth paste and apply it to your scalp and hair from roots to tips. Cover with clingwrap and leave it on your hair for 30 minutes to 3 hours. It is best to apply it on freshly or recently washed hair.

Cassia can be mixed with Love My Hair pure henna and/or 100% Herbal Light Auburn dye to dye hair in shades ranging from light blond (on grey/white hair) to strawberry and golden blond. For example, you could use 1 part Love My Hair 100% Herbal Light Auburn dye and 5 parts cassia to dye grey and naturally blond or very light brown hair a golden blond colour. You can add some Love My Hair pure henna for redder tones or Love My Hair indigo powder for browner tones. You must always do a strand test when experimenting with plant dye mixtures.

Once you have decided on what plant dyes to mix together, add enough warm water to your dye powder mixture to make a smooth, thick paste and apply evenly over your hair. Cover with clingwrap and after your application time (as determined by your strand test), rinse well, shampoo and condition. You can experiment with application times and the ratio of cassia to the other plant dyes depending on what colour you want to achieve. Longer application times will give you a redder colour, as will increasing the amount of henna in the mixture. Increasing the ratio of cassia will give more strawberry blond colours. Note that none of the Love My Hair herbal dyes contain any chemicals and that means they contain no bleaching chemicals so they are not able to lighten darker hair to blond/golden shades. Cassia and other herbal dye mixtures work well for covering grey and for giving natural blond or light brown hair a lift.

Warning: Please note that cassia is NOT suitable for use on hair that has been bleached, i.e. had highlights or any kind of lightening dye used on it. Cassia can make bleached hair an orangey colour so please take care. If your hair has been permed or had any other kind of chemical treatment please also do a strand test before you proceed as chemical treatments can alter the structure of the hair and could give you an unwanted colour result.
