Our Ziziphus leaf powder, also known as Qasil or Sidr, is made from the carefully prepared leaves of the Ziziphus tree. It is 100% pure, certified organic and Halal and is endorsed by Beauty without Cruelty and Vegan SA.

The powdered leaves have been used for centuries as a gentle and healing face and body wash and scalp conditioner.

Please note that pure ziziphus powder, when mixed with water, does NOT make foam like soap or regular shampoo.

Ziziphus contains mild saponins which gently cleanse the hair and scalp and are also very beneficial for facial skin, helping to even out skin tone, moisturizing the skin and soothing and calming irritated, inflamed skin. It contains phyto-compounds which may help to reduce wrinkles, have a soothing and nurturing effect on the skin around the eyes and help to prevent the breakdown of collagen.

To use ziziphus as a face cleanser follow these steps:

1. Start by mixing a small amount of powder with water in a bowl or your palm. You want to use enough water to create a smooth, runny paste-like consistency.

2. Rub this smooth paste vigorously between your palms, the mixture will change from dark green to a creamy light green. This is how ziziphus 'lathers'.

3. Gently massage the paste onto your damp face, using circular motions. Focus on areas that need extra attention, such as the T-zone or areas prone to congestion.

4. Allow the paste to sit on your skin for a few minutes. This gives the natural ingredients time to work their magic and draw out impurities from your pores.

5. Rinse off the paste thoroughly with warm water, ensuring that all traces are removed from your skin.

6. Follow up with your regular skincare routine.

Ziziphus is known for its ability to cleanse the skin deeply and draw out excess oil, dirt, and impurities. Its gentle exfoliating action helps to slough off dead skin cells, leaving your skin feeling smoother and looking more radiant. If your skin is congested you may experience a break-out as the ziziphus works its magic.

To use ziziphus as a hair treament follow these steps:

1. Mix 1 tablespoon of ziziphus powder in about 1- 2 cups of warm water. Mix vigorously to release the saponins. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes.

2. Wet your hair, apply the mixture to your hair and scalp, giving your scalp a good massage while you're at it, leave it on your hair for a few minutes, then rinse well.

3. You can also mix the powder with enough warm water to make a thick paste, let it sit for 30 minutes, apply the paste to your hair in sections and let it rest in your hair for 20 minutes. Rinse well.

4. Depending on your hair type, you may need to use a gentle (preferably sulphate-free) shampoo to remove all the ziziphus from your hair and follow with a conditioner.

Ziziphus powder contains a plant wax with a molecular similarity to latex. If you have a latex sensitivity, please do a skin patch test before using this product.
